so- we took our dog in for a "free" exam after adopting him from the shelter. It turned out not to be free - because we were charged $125 to test for an ear infection, which I would think they could see with an otoscope, but then they wouldn't get the $125 "test" fee. When my daughter brought him home, she said that they did not give her a prescription for the ear infection. I called, and the woman said, "Oh, we treated him, the medication was put directly into his ear". I saw no improvement over several weeks, and was thinking he had a neurological issue because he kept shaking his head. I called back, and this time I was told that my daughter had refused treatment and it was never done. My daughter stated that she was never told that he needed any other treatment and absolutely would not have refused. She was under the impression that the charge was for the treatment, just as I was. The reason that I tend to believe her is due to the fact that they told me he was treated when he was not. In addition, prior to knowing that the ear had not been treated, I requested an estimate for dental work that he needed. The estimate was approx. $1600- $2100. I DID refuse that plan, and found another vet that estimated $600-$800.
